Welcome!
Mary Immaculate Primary School which was established in 1985, is an integral agent in fostering the vision of the Faith Community. The school commenced in 1985 with 79 students, with Mrs. Dorothy Faulder as Principal. Mr Tony Logue led the school community as Principal between 1992 and 1997. Mr Christopher Paton was appointed Acting Principal for 1998 and Ms Jeanne Pestana took up her appointment as Principal in 1999. Since then the school has responded to the increasing population demands for Catholic Education by providing classrooms to accommodate 616 children of 426 families as at October 2008.
Through the generous and faith-filled support of parents, and the talents of the dedicated staff of Catholic teachers, the school provides a teaching environment that is committed to excellence and permeated by Christian Values.
There are 21 classrooms at MIPS with adjoining open learning spaces (Green, Blue, Mimosa & Bottero Rooms). In addition, the school has a computer laboratory and laptop trolleys for class use. There are specialist resource rooms for Reading Recovery and Special Education. All our classrooms are air-conditioned. The school also uses Terone Park for supervised play and PE lessons. Mary Immaculate employs specialist teachers for Special Education, Reading Recovery, Language Support, Library and PE. The school has a term of dancing with specialist teachers from the Dancefever School.
In 2003, three new classrooms, a library, a resource room, additional toilets and a large undercover area, the Undercroft, were completed as part of a building program. The Administration Block was also refurbished and another storey added to the Administration Block to accommodate the growing needs of the school.
The Bottero Building, which was completed in 2008, has six new classrooms for Years 5 and 6 and an open learning area, which will also function as a computer learning area for the senior students. A large undercroft area, the Bottero Undercroft, was also completed. The existing Kindergarten – Year 3 classrooms in the Blue and Green Rooms were also refurbished and extended in 2008.
As the Faith Community responds to the increasing demands of a changing world, by their Baptism and their acceptance of enrolment at Mary Immaculate, all are challenged to participate in sustaining and giving life to the school’s vision. The school community is strengthened by its links with the Parish which is a vital part of what Bossley Park is all about – a community of believers working together to further the gospel and a place where family values, Christian faith, the practice of prayer, tolerance, acceptance and togetherness is fostered. |
